Review this week's message.

Key Thought:

Shame can inhibit intimacy in your marriage.

Start talking. Find a conversation starter for your group.
  • Tell the group one of your favorite memories with your significant other.
  • What is your favorite kind of date night with your significant other?

Start thinking. Ask a thoughtful question.
  • What is a principle from this sermon that stuck out to you?
  • What are things you can do now to make your marriage (or future marriage) better?

Start sharing. Choose questions that create openness.
  • In your experience, what has helped create deeper intimacy in your relationship? What has hindered it?
  • Has shame impacted your marriage? How have you overcome it (or how do you plan to)?

Start praying. Be bold, and pray with power.

Jesus, thank you for my spouse and the intimacy that you have given us. Help me to cherish our relationship! Amen.

Start doing. Commit to a step and live it out this week.

If you're married, take Pastor Bil's advice to “sensate” this week with your spouse.

Scriptures

For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.  And the man and his wife were both naked, but they were not ashamed.  Genesis 2:24-25

Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.  Hebrews 13:4

Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.  1 Corinthians 6:18

..submit to one another... Ephesians 5:21

When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any business: but he shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer up his wife which he hath taken. Deuteronomy 24:5

Do not deprive each other of sexual relations, unless you both agree to refrain from sexual intimacy for a limited time so you can give yourselves more completely to prayer. Afterward, you should come together again so that Satan won’t be able to tempt you because of your lack of self-control. I say this as a concession, not as a command.  1 Corinthians 7:4-6 NLT
