Review this week's message.

Key Thought:

Fight for what matters most.

Key Quote

“When we forget our calling, we live self- centered lives.” - Pastor Bil Cornelius

“Life seems empty when we are fighting for the wrong things.” - Pastor Bil Cornelius

Start talking. Find a conversation starter for your group.
  • When you were a child, what was your biggest dream?
  • If you could have any superhuman power, what would it be?
  • What would you do if you had all the money in the world?
  • What is something you want to learn how to do?

Start thinking. Ask a thoughtful question.
  • What does it mean to lay down your life for Jesus?
  • What are some things that can prevent us from fulfilling our purpose?
  • How does God reveal His purposes to us?
  • Why is community such an important part of fulfilling the plans God has for us?

Start sharing. Choose questions that create openness.
  • What do you believe your life’s purpose is?
  • Have you been trying to fulfill your own destiny rather than relying on God?
  • What is something in your life that is producing the 80% that you should be focusing on instead of focusing on the 20% you don’t have?
  • How can you glorify God through the calling He has put on your life?

Start praying. Be bold, and pray with power.

Dear Jesus, give me the peace and satisfaction that only You can give. Help me to remember that you have given me purpose and a great calling on my life. Thank you for your grace and guidance. Amen.

Start doing. Commit to a step and live it out this week.
  • Commit to inviting three people with you to “At the Movies” next week.
  • Pray and seek God on what is His purpose for your life.
  • Identify where you’re at on the 80/20 principle and give your focus on the 80%.

Scriptures

“Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.””- Matthew 16:24-25 NIV

“But then I looked at everything I had done and the wealth I had gained. I decided it was all a waste of time! It was like trying to catch the wind. There is nothing to gain from anything we do in this life.” - Ecclesiastes 2:11 ERV

“After I looked things over, I stood up and said to the nobles, the officials, and the rest of the people, “Don’t be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.” - Nehemiah 4:14 NIV
