Review this week's message.

Key Thought:

We must never forget the sacrifice that Jesus made for us.

Key Quote

"What's going to satisfy your soul is to be the light in this dark world. If you can do that, then you will make a difference." -Pastor Bil Cornelius

“Our darkest moments can sometimes be our best moments” - Pastor Bil Cornelius

Start talking. Find a conversation starter for your group.
  • What is your biggest pet peeve?
  • What is your favorite game to play?
  • What is your funniest random fact you know?
  • Where were you on 9/11?

Start thinking. Ask a thoughtful question.
  • What does it mean to live a life of gratitude?
  • Why is it important for us to stand firm in our faith during our darkest moments?
  • How can we as Christians give real hope back to the world?
  • What does it mean to find hope in Jesus?

Start sharing. Choose questions that create openness.
  • Talk about a time where you did the right thing even though it wasn't the popular thing to do.
  • Describe a dark moment in your life and how you handled that situation.
  • Who is your hero and why are they your hero?
  • Where has God used a moment of hurt to show you His grace?

Start praying. Be bold, and pray with power.

Dear Jesus, thank you for being our hero. Help us to every day stand up for what is right even when it’s hard and no one else is doing it. Give us an opportunity to bring Your hope to someone. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Start doing. Commit to a step and live it out this week.
  • Ask God to give you an opportunity to step into what He has called you to be.
  • Honor someone you love by showing gratitude towards them.
  • Find a way you can start leaving an impact and commit to following through!

Scriptures

“...always be thankful.” Colossians 3:15 NLT

“Give justice to the poor and the orphan; uphold the rights of the oppressed and the destitute. Rescue the poor and helpless; deliver them from the grasp of evil people."  Psalm 82:3-4 NLT

"Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. So, anyone who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and they will be punished. For the authorities do not strike fear in people who are doing right, but in those who are doing wrong. Would you like to live without fear of the authorities? Do what is right, and they will honor you. The authorities are God’s servants, sent for your good. But if you are doing wrong, of course you should be afraid, for they have the power to punish you. They are God’s servants, sent for the very purpose of punishing those who do what is wrong. So, you must submit to them, not only to avoid punishment, but also to keep a clear conscience." Romans 13:2-5 NLT

"Justice, and only justice, you shall pursue, so that you may live and occupy the land that the LORD your God is giving you." Deuteronomy 16:20 NRSV

“By his one sacrifice he has forever set free from sin the people he brings to God.” Hebrews 10:14 CEV

"This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you.  There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends." John 15:12-13 NLT

“He rekindles burned-out lives with fresh hope, restoring dignity and respect to their lives...” 1 Samuel 2:8 MSG

“Jesus was wounded for the wrong we did; he was crushed for the evil we did. The punishment, which made us well, was given to him, and we are healed because of his wounds.” Isaiah 53:5 NCV
