Review this week's message.

Key Thought:

God can give you supernatural strength to fight the battle before you.

Key Quote

“Your other half is your better half.” – Pastor Jon Chasteen

Start talking. Find a conversation starter for your group.
  • What’s the longest trip you’ve ever taken?
  • How many countries have you visited outside the United States?
  • If you could wish one thing into existence, what would it be?
  • What’s the worst weather event you’ve ever experienced?

Start thinking. Ask a thoughtful question.
  • What does it mean to have supernatural strength & endurance? How do you get it?
  • Why is prayer so impactful?
  • What does the Apostle Paul mean when he says God’s “power finds its full expression through your weakness”?
  • How do you know when to fight & when to let God fight for you?

Start sharing. Choose questions that create openness.
  • Have you ever experienced God’s supernatural strength and endurance? Looking back, how did you see God moving in that time?
  • Why is it important to pray big prayers?
  • In human terms, what about your “better half” makes you better? If you’re single, what would you want your better half to improve about you?
  • What is it about your LifeGroup that makes you better?

Start praying. Be bold, and pray with power.

Dear Jesus, in this difficult season, we ask that you give us supernatural strength and endurance so we can fight our battles alongside of you. In your name we pray, Amen.

Start doing. Commit to a step and live it out this week.
  • Just as Joshua prayed to God that the sun should stand still, we too are called to make bold prayers. Take time each morning this week and pray a big, bold prayer to God about a battle that you are fighting. In that prayer, ask him to also give you supernatural strength and endurance through it.
  • Write down five areas in your life where you should fight and five areas where you should let God fight for you. Share those areas with one other group member, then pray for wisdom and strength to know when to fight and when to let God fight for you.
  • Write down three God-sized prayers, pray for them & ask the group to pray with you.

Scriptures

Now Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem heard that Joshua had taken Ai and totally destroyed it, doing to Ai and its king as he had done to Jericho and its king, and that the people of Gibeon had made a treaty of peace with Israel and had become their allies. 2 He and his people were very much alarmed at this, because Gibeon was an important city, like one of the royal cities; it was larger than Ai, and all its men were good fighters. 3 So Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem appealed to Hoham king of Hebron, Piram king of Jarmuth, Japhia king of Lachish and Debir king of Eglon. 4 “Come up and help me attack Gibeon,” he said, “because it has made peace with Joshua and the Israelites.” 5 Then the five kings of the Amorites—the kings of Jerusalem, Hebron, Jarmuth, Lachish and Eglon—joined forces. They moved up with all their troops and took up positions against Gibeon and attacked it. Joshua 10:1-5 NIV

The Gibeonites then sent word to Joshua in the camp at Gilgal: “Do not abandon your servants. Come up to us quickly and save us! Help us, because all the Amorite kings from the hill country have joined forces against us.” 7 So Joshua marched up from Gilgal with his entire army, including all the best fighting men. 8 The Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them; I have given them into your hand. Not one of them will be able to withstand you.” 9 After an all night march from Gilgal, Joshua took them by surprise. 10 The Lord threw them into confusion before Israel, so Joshua and the Israelites defeated them completely at Gibeon. Israel pursued them along the road going up to Beth Horon and cut them down all the way to Azekah and Makkedah. 11 As they fled before Israel on the road down from Beth Horon to Azekah, the Lord hurled large hailstones down on them, and more of them died from the hail than were killed by the swords of the Israelites. 12 On the day the Lord gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the Lord in the presence of Israel: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon, and you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.” 13 So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day. 14 There has never been a day like it before or since, a day when the Lord listened to a human being. Surely the Lord was fighting for Israel! Joshua 10:6-14 NIV

But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit. 1 Corinthians 6:17 NIV

So Joshua marched up from Gilgal with his entire army, including all the best fighting men. 8 The Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them; I have given them into your hand. Not one of them will be able to withstand you.” 9 After an all-night march from Gilgal, Joshua took them by surprise. Joshua 10:7-9 NIV

So don’t lose your bold, courageous faith, for you are destined for a great reward! 36 You need the strength of endurance to reveal the poetry of God’s will and then you receive the promise in full. 37 For soon and very soon, “The One who is appearing will come without delay!” Hebrews 10:35-37 TPT

‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty. Zechariah 4:6b NIV

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. 29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. 30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; 31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:28-31 NIV

But he answered me, “My grace is always more than enough for you, and my power finds its full expression through your weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9a TPT

After an all-night march from Gilgal, Joshua took them by surprise. Joshua 10:9-11 NIV

Now the Philistines had come and spread out in the Valley of Rephaim; 19 so David inquired of the Lord, “Shall I go and attack the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hands?” The Lord answered him, “Go, for I will surely deliver the Philistines into your hands.” 2 Samuel 5:18-19 NIV

Once more the Philistines came up and spread out in the Valley of Rephaim; 23 so David inquired of the Lord, and he answered, “Do not go straight up, but circle around behind them and attack them in front of the poplar trees. 24 As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the poplar trees, move quickly, because that will mean the Lord has gone out in front of you to strike the Philistine army.” 2 Samuel 5:22-24 NIV

But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31 NJKV

On the day the Lord gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the Lord in the presence of Israel: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon, and you, moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.” 13 So the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, till the nation avenged itself its enemies, as it is written in the Book of Jashar. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day. 14 There has never been a day like it before or since, a day when the Lord listened to a human being. Surely the Lord was fighting for Israel! 15 Then Joshua returned with all Israel to the camp at Gilgal. Joshua 10:12-15 NIV

As soon as I pray, you answer me; you encourage me by giving me strength. Psalm 138:3 NLT

“Now my beloved ones, I have saved these most important truths for last: Be supernaturally infused with strength through your life-union with the Lord Jesus. Stand victorious with the force of his explosive power flowing in and through you.” Ephesians 6:10 TPT
