Review this week's message.

Key Quote

"Be a 'go the extra mile' person" - Pastor Bil Cornelius

Start talking. Find a conversation starter for your group.
  • What is one thing you are unbeatable at?
  • What is the last thing you did for the first time?
  • What is your go-to karaoke song?

Start thinking. Ask a thoughtful question.
  • Rebekah didn't know how much one decision would change the direction of her life. Is there a time in your life when one decision changed everything for you?
  • Where are you not fully “showing up” in your life right now? How can you change that?

Start sharing. Choose questions that create openness.
  • “You have not because you ask not.” Are you praying specifically for what you want/need in your life? What do you need to start asking God boldly for?
  • “Doing the bare minimum in and area of your life causes insecurity in that area.” How can giving your best change the way you see yourself or an area of your life?

Start praying. Be bold, and pray with power.

“Jesus, help me to go the extra mile in helping the people you have put in my life. Thank you for the doors you are opening for me to step into my purpose. Amen.”

Start doing. Commit to a step and live it out this week.
  • Read the story of Rebekah and Isaac for yourself in Genesis 24.
  • Ask God how you can go the extra mile this week in your own life!

Scriptures

Swear by the Lord, the God of heaven and earth, that you will not allow my son to marry one of these local Canaanite women.  Go instead to my homeland, to my relatives, and find a wife there for my son Isaac.”  Genesis 24:3-4
“O Lord..Please give me success today, and show unfailing love to my master, Abraham.  See, I am standing here beside this spring, and the young women of the town are coming out to draw water.  This is my request. I will ask one of them, ‘Please give me a drink from your jug.’ If she says, ‘Yes, have a drink, and I will water your camels, too!’—let her be the one you have selected as Isaac’s wife..  Genesis 24:10b-14

Before he had finished praying, he saw a young woman named Rebekah coming out with her water jug on her shoulder. She was the daughter of Bethuel, who was the son of Abraham’s brother Nahor and his wife, Milcah. Rebekah was very beautiful and old enough to be married, but she was still a virgin. Genesis 24:15-16

She went down to the spring, filled her jug, and came up again. 17 Running over to her, the servant said, “Please give me a little drink of water from your jug.”   “Yes, my lord,” she answered, “have a drink.” And she quickly lowered her jug from her shoulder and gave him a drink. 19 When she had given him a drink, she said, “I’ll draw water for your camels, too, until they have had enough to drink.” 20 So she quickly emptied her jug into the watering trough and ran back to the well to draw water for all his camels.  Genesis 24:16-20

“Whoever forces you to go one mile, go with him two.”  Matthew 5:41

“Please give me a little drink of water from your jug.”   “Yes, my lord,” she answered, “have a drink.” And she quickly lowered her jug from her shoulder and gave him a drink. 19 When she had given him a drink, she said, “I’ll draw water for your camels, too, until they have had enough to drink.”  Genesis 24:18-19

give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” Luke 6:38
