Review this week's message.

Key Thought:

Raise your kids to be influenced by God rather than by the world.

Key Quote

“Do not let your children do anything that makes you dislike them.”  - Jordan B. Peterson.

Start talking. Find a conversation starter for your group.
  • What was your favorite band or artist growing up?
  • What is your favorite game to play?
  • If you could only have one type of food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
  • Do you prefer to watch a movie or a TV show? Why?

Start thinking. Ask a thoughtful question.
  • How does acknowledging the fact we’re all born sinners impact how we discipline and raise our kids?
  • Why can disciplining kids be a challenge?
  • How do you practically maximize the right influences in life?
  • Why is it important to be serving others?

Start sharing. Choose questions that create openness.
  • What do you struggle with the most about parenting?
  • How do you determine what the right and wrong influences are for your family?
  • How often do you spend quality time with your family?
  • Are you living out what you’re teaching your kids? Nobody’s perfect, but is this your habit?

Start praying. Be bold, and pray with power.

Dear Jesus, thank you for being the best role model for our kids and family. Help me to love and lead my family like You. Amen.

Start doing. Commit to a step and live it out this week.
  • Spend intentional time with your kids and family this week. If you’re single, spend intentional time with your friends!
  • Start serving in one of our weekend ministries with your family this Sunday!
  • Make an important investment in your children’s life by bringing them to Kids Unlimited or CU Students this week.

Scriptures

“The Lord looks down from heaven on the children of man, to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God.  They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is none who does good, not even one.”  Psalm 14:2-3

“Just as a parent disciplines a child, the Lord your God disciplines you for your own good.” Deuteronomy 8:5 NLT

“Eventually, evil will pay tribute to good; the wicked will respect God-loyal people.”  Proverbs 14:19 MSG

“There’s a way of life that looks harmless enough; look again—it leads straight to hell.  Sure, those people appear to be having a good time, but all that laughter will end in heartbreak.” Proverbs 14:12-13 MSG

“’Let’s [party], for tomorrow we die!’  Don’t be fooled by those who say such things, for bad company corrupts good character.”  1 Corinthians 15:32-33 NLT

“Discover creative ways to encourage others and to motivate them toward acts of compassion, doing beautiful works as expressions of love. This is not the time to pull away and neglect meeting together, as some have formed the habit of doing, because we need each other! In fact, we should come together even more frequently, eager to encourage and urge each other onward as we anticipate that day dawning.” Hebrews 10:24-25 TPT

“Honor your father and mother, as the Lord your God commanded you. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving you.”  Deuteronomy 5:16 NLT

“For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.” Galatians 5:13 NLT
