Review this week's message.

Key Thought: Inviting someone to church won’t just change their life, it will change their eternity.

Key Quote
“You don’t know what God’s going to do through who you reach.” - Pastor Bil Cornelius

Start talking. Find a conversation starter for your group.
  • What is your favorite movie? What makes it your favorite?
  • What is the last restaurant someone recommended to you? Was it good?
  • Where is your favorite place to shop?
  • What movie are you looking forward to seeing? Why?

Start thinking. Ask a thoughtful question.
  • What is it about an experience that makes someone want to share it?
  • What would change in your community if your church was filled every weekend?
  • How is inviting someone to church similar to inviting them to a movie or restaurant?
  • Are you willing to share your faith? What is stopping you?

Start sharing. Choose questions that create openness.
  • Why did you decide to follow Christ/ become a Christian?
  • What is an excuse you’ve given for not sharing the gospel?
  • Someone is on your heart who needs to come to church. How would that person’s life change if he or she had a relationship with Jesus Christ?
  • What do you do when you invite someone to church and they say no?

Start praying. Be bold, and pray with power.
Dear Jesus, you want us to live with bold faith. Give us your eyes for lost people and a heart to reach out to them with confidence to invite them to church this week. Help us to start living that way today. Help us cut a hole in our schedules and our hearts to evangelize. In your name we pray, Amen.

Start doing. Commit to a step and live it out this week.
  • Take time to pray about who God has put on your heart to invite this weekend. Then, connect with that person and share why you want them to come to church with you.
  • Make a list of everyone in your life who doesn’t come to church, then work that list until you’ve invited them all to At The Movies.
  • Give God your fears of sharing your faith and ask Him for help in that area. Once he’s helped you, act on your new found boldness by inviting at least one person.
  • We’re called to evangelize. Do you have the faith to believe that you can invite someone to church and that they can be saved? Brainstorm ways that you can leverage the invite cards and then do it!

Scriptures

One day while Jesus was teaching, some Pharisees and teachers of religious law were sitting nearby. (It seemed that these men showed up from every village in all Galilee and Judea, as well as from Jerusalem.) And the Lord’s healing power was strongly with Jesus. Luke 5:17 NLT Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Matthew 9:37b-38 ESV Some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a sleeping mat. They tried to take him inside to Jesus, but they couldn’t reach him because of the crowd. Luke 5:18-19a NLT Then they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive in every way. Titus 2:10 NLT So they went up to the roof and took off some tiles. Then they lowered the sick man on his mat down into the crowd, right in front of Jesus. Luke 5:19b NLT “Then the master told his servant, ‘Go to the roads and paths! Urge the people to come to my house. I want it to be full.’” Luke 14:23 GW Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the man, “Young man, your sins are forgiven.” Luke 5:20 NLT “faith by itself—that does nothing—is dead…” James 2:17 NCV Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1 NIV “...remember…if you give little, you will get little. A farmer who plants just a few seeds will get only a small crop, but if he plants much, he will reap much.” 2 Corinthians 9:6 TLB
