Review this week's message.

Key Thought:

How you see yourself will determine how you see your future.

Key Quote

“You will miss God’s promised land if you ignore His voice speaking to you. Did you catch that? You can be saved and still miss God’s best for your life.” - Pastor Bil Cornelius

Start talking. Find a conversation starter for your group.
  • What’s does your perfect “dream” life look like?
  • What’s your favorite song right now?
  • What big trend have you just not understood?
  • If you could be quarantined with one famous person, who would it be and why?

Start thinking. Ask a thoughtful question.
  • Why are we so prone to nostalgia and trying to recreate the past?
  • Why should we take sin seriously?
  • What is the difference between naysayers and constructive feedback? Why is it important to ignore the naysayers?
  • Why is it important that you believe that God’s plan for you can become reality?

Start sharing. Choose questions that create openness.
  • In what area is God’s voice speaking to you right now? What is he telling you?
  • What is something you’re believing God will come through on? As a group, pray over these things.
  • What media are you consuming that is lifting you up? What media are you consuming that is holding back your belief in God’s plans for you?
  • Name one great thing you’re believing God for in your future.

Start praying. Be bold, and pray with power.

Dear Jesus, we know you have an amazing future prepared for us, so help us live knowing that you will pave the way. We believe that you are doing big things! In your name we pray, Amen.

Start doing. Commit to a step and live it out this week.
  • God will give you what you are believing Him for, but he’ll also give you the results of your unbelief too. Every morning when you wake up tell yourself that you are made in God’s image, He has big plans for you, and He’s going to use you in amazing ways today.
  • There is power in writing things down. Write out one thing that God has laid on your heart and that you are believing him for. Pray over that one thing every day and take the steps of faith needed to help God’s plan for you become a reality.
  • Believe the best! Make a list of 5 things you want God to do in your life. Pray through that list every morning, telling God you believe He’s going to make them happen.

Scriptures

“We entered the land you sent us to explore, and it is indeed a bountiful country… But the people living there are powerful… We even saw giants there, the descendants of Anak! ...But Caleb [said] “Let’s go at once to take the land,” he said. “We can certainly conquer it!” But the other men who had explored the land… disagreed. “We can’t go up against them! They are stronger than we are!” So they spread this bad report…“The land we traveled through and explored will devour anyone who goes to live there. All the people we saw were huge. We even saw giants there… Next to them we felt like grasshoppers, and that’s what they thought, too!” Numbers 13:25-33 NLT

Then the whole community..cried all night… in a great chorus of protest against Moses and Aaron. “If only we had died in Egypt, or even here in the wilderness!” they complained. “Why is the LORD taking us to this country only to have us die in battle? …Wouldn’t it be better for us to return to Egypt?” Then they plotted among themselves, “Let’s choose a new leader and go back to Egypt!” Number 14:1-4 NLT

[Joshua and Caleb] said… “The land we traveled through and explored is a wonderful land! And if the LORD is pleased with us, he will bring us safely into that land and give it to us. It is a rich land flowing with milk and honey. Do not rebel against the LORD, and don’t be afraid of the people of the land. They are only helpless prey to us! ..the LORD is with us! Don’t be afraid of them!” But the whole community began to talk about stoning Joshua and Caleb… the LORD said to Moses, “How long will these people treat me with contempt? Will they never believe me, even after all the miraculous signs I have done among them? I will disown them and destroy them with a plague…” Numbers 14:5-12 NLT

The voice of the LORD is powerful… The voice of the LORD strikes with bolts of lightning. The voice of the LORD makes the barren wilderness quake; the LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh. Psalm 29:4,7-8 NLT

“I will pardon [Israel] as you have requested. But… not one of these people will ever enter that land. They have all seen my glorious presence and the miraculous signs I performed both in Egypt and in the wilderness, but again and again they have tested me by refusing to listen to my voice…But my servant Caleb has a different attitude than the others have. He has remained loyal to me, so I will bring him into the [Promise] land… Now turn around… you must [head back to] the wilderness.” Numbers 14: 20-25 NLT

‘As surely as I live, declares the LORD, I will do to you the very things I heard you say. You will all drop dead in this wilderness! Because you complained against me… You will not enter and occupy the [Promised] land. Numbers 14:28-29 NLT
