Review this week's message.

Key Thought:

Jesus’s death, burial, and resurrection paved the way for us to have a blessed eternity.

Key Quote

“What was Christ thinking about on the cross? He was thinking about you and me.” - Pastor Bil Cornelius

Start talking. Find a conversation starter for your group.
  • What’s your funniest holiday story?
  • What’s your favorite food you only have on special occasions?
  • What’s your favorite Bible story and why?
  • If you could spend a day with anyone in the bible (besides Jesus) who would it be?

Start thinking. Ask a thoughtful question.
  • What are common, temporary things that steal people’s attention from the eternal?
  • What sticks out to you the most about the life of Jesus?
  • How should Jesus’ sacrifice influence the way we live?
  • What changes about how we view people when we take an eternal mindset?

Start sharing. Choose questions that create openness.
  • God has given us direct access to him through the power of the Holy Spirit and we can communicate to him through prayer. Would you consider your prayer life strong or could it use some improvement?
  • How are you living with an eternal mindset?
  • How has your life changed since God moved in to dwell inside you?
  • What is something you can do right now to become more like Jesus?

Start praying. Be bold, and pray with power.

Dear Jesus, thank you for the grace that you displayed to us in your death, burial, and resurrection. We don’t deserve salvation, but are thankful for the free gift you’ve given. Help us to live with urgency in sharing this gift with others. In your name we pray, Amen.

Start doing. Commit to a step and live it out this week.
  • Jesus did an amazing work on the cross, and it’s our job to let people know about it. Everywhere we go we can meet someone who needs to hear the life-changing message of the gospel. Choose to live intentionally and find someone to share your faith with this week.
  • It’s easy to fall into the trap of living for the temporary, but the more we surround ourselves with believers the easier it gets to focus on the eternal. If someone in your life is not in a LifeGroup, make the decision to get them connected with one today.
  • Live out “The U” steps applying an eternal mindset: U Attend, U Tithe, U Serve, U Group, U Bring. Our lives change when we live out these steps with a focus on what will last forever for God’s glory.

Scriptures

Then Jesus shouted out again, and he released his spirit. 51 At that moment the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. Matthew 27:50-51a NLT

There were two rooms in that Tabernacle. In the first room were a lampstand, a table, and sacred loaves of bread on the table. This room was called the Holy Place. Then there was a curtain, and behind the curtain was the second room called the Most Holy Place. In that room were a gold incense altar and a wooden chest called the Ark of the Covenant, which was covered with gold on all sides. Hebrews 9:2-4 NLT

The earth shook, rocks split apart… Matthew 27:51b NLT

When God spoke from Mount Sinai his voice shook the earth, but now he makes another promise: “Once again I will shake not only the earth but the heavens also.” This means that all of creation will be shaken and removed, so that only unshakable things will remain. Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe. For our God is a devouring fire. Hebrews 12:26-29 NLT

..and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and went into the holy city and appeared to many people. Matthew 27:52-53 NIV

Christ was raised as the first of the harvest; then all who belong to Christ will be raised when he comes back. 1 Corinthians 15:23 NLT

The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. Romans 8:11 NLT

The Roman officer and the other soldiers at the crucifixion were terrified by the earthquake and all that had happened. They said, “This man truly was the Son of God!” Matthew 27:54 NLT
