Review this week's message.

Key Thought: The resurrection of Jesus is God displaying that he’s not done with you yet!

Start talking. Find a conversation starter for your group.
  • How would you describe the perfect person?
  • Do you like getting free stuff? What has been your favorite free giveaway you received?
  • Do you and your family have any Easter traditions you look forward to every year?

Start thinking. Ask a thoughtful question.
  • Why must we remember that our salvation is free to us, but it came at a price?
  • What is significant about God bringing darkness in both Old and New Testaments?
  • Why is it important that Jesus died and rose again?
  • Why do you think people are afraid of the dark? What’s so scary about it?

Start sharing. Choose questions that create openness.
  • How do you want your life renewed in Jesus?
  • Looking at your life now, what lets you know that God has only just begun in your life?
  • What would a shaken life look like? Where have the tombs in your life been split open?
  • Are there any struggles you need to put to death (surrender to God) in your own life since we cannot do it on our own?

Start praying. Be bold, and pray with power.
Dear Jesus, thank you for the free gift of the cross and resurrection where your love was on full display for us. Our lives wouldn’t be the same without you, so help us to live each and every day in celebration of what you’ve done. We don’t want to just try and be good enough, but simply pursue a relationship with you. You’re worth it. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Start doing. Commit to a step and live it out this week.
  • Take the time to reflect on how Jesus has made a difference in your life. That way you can share with others what life was like before you had a relationship with Christ and after your relationship began.
  • Write down how your life is renewed through Jesus Christ. Consider where you have a clean slate, where you need to make apologies, and where you need to have the courage to be humble.
  • As a group, pray over the area highlighted in the Start Sharing section for each group member
  • Commit to bringing one person to Church Unlimited next week for the beginning of the Be Worth Following series.

Scriptures

For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit… 1 Peter 3:18 ESV At noon, darkness fell across the whole land until three o’clock. At about three o’clock, Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” which means “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?”... Matthew 27:45 NLT What sorrow awaits you who say, “If only the day of the Lord were here!” You have no idea what you are wishing for. That day will bring darkness, not light. Amos 5:18 NLT Then the Lord said to Moses, “Lift your hand toward heaven, and the land of Egypt will be covered with a darkness so thick you can feel it.” So Moses lifted his hand to the sky, and a deep darkness covered the entire land of Egypt for three days. During all that time the people could not see each other, and no one moved. Exodus 10:21-23 NLT All the firstborn sons will die in every family in Egypt, from the oldest son of Pharaoh…to the oldest son of his lowliest servant… Exodus 11:5a NLT And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. Matthew 27:51a ESV God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. Ephesians 2:8-9 NLT And the earth shook, and the rocks were split. Matthew 27:51b ESV When the centurion and those who were with him, keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake…they were filled with awe and said, “Truly this was the Son of God!” Matthew 27:54 ESV All of Mount Sinai was covered with smoke because the Lord had descended on it in the form of fire…and the whole mountain shook violently. Exodus 19:18 NLT The tombs also were opened. And many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised, and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many. Matthew 27:51-53 ESV ...When God lives and breathes in you…you are delivered from that dead life. With his Spirit living in you, your body will be as alive as Christ’s! Romans 8:11b MSG For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout…with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves. Then…we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. So encourage each other with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:16 NLT Then Simon Peter arrived and went inside. He also noticed the linen wrappings lying there, while the cloth that had covered Jesus’ head was folded up and lying apart from the other wrappings. John 20:6b-7 NLT Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there, and the face cloth, which had been on Jesus’ head, not lying with the linen cloths but folded up in a place by itself. John 20:6-7 ESV
