Review this week's message.

Key Thought:

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid to receive God’s blessings in the new year.

Key Quote

“Pray like it’s all up to God. Work like it’s all up to you.” – Pastor Bil Cornelius

Start talking. Find a conversation starter for your group.
  • What are some funny New Year Resolutions trends you have seen?
  • Why do New Year Resolutions fail?
  • Why do New Year Resolutions succeed?
  • What is a funny habit or quirk you have?

Start thinking. Ask a thoughtful question.
  • Why is your mindset such an important factor in success?
  • What value does a mentor bring to a person’s life? What value is there in being a mentor to other people?
  • How can you know if a habit you have gives or takes life?
  • How can you setup guardrails to get you back on the path God made for you this year?

Start sharing. Choose questions that create openness.
  • What one habit do you need to give up that will evoke change this year into your best year so far?
  • Do you have faith to believe more for your life? What would change if you actually believed that God has chosen you for success?
  • What is a goal you believe God has given you this year? Reverse engineer it: how are you going to accomplish it?
  • How are you going to face the fear that’s standing in the way of you and God’s blessings?

Start praying. Be bold, and pray with power.

Dear Jesus, thank you for showing us through Joshua how we can move into the promises you have already set aside for us. Help us connect with the people who will help us shift our mindsets and build the habits that prepare us for Your blessings. In your name we pray, Amen.

Start doing. Commit to a step and live it out this week.
  • Your success responds to high activity over time not high intentions. What are the steps you need to take to move from high intention to high activity? Commit to building habits that will achieve the life you desire with just five minutes a day every day. Share these habits with the group and ask for accountability.
  • Being mentored is a game-changer for our lives, seek out someone who has already experienced the success you desire and invest through commitment and time to learn from that person as much as possible.
  • We may not be able to get that one-on-one time with someone to learn how they think. Find and implement ways to have that person distance mentor you by reading their books, listening to their podcasts, following them on Youtube and any other ways you can learn from them consistently.
  • You cannot have a New Year without a New You! What steps do you need to take to move toward the New You? Share with your LifeGroup for accountability and go for it!

He said, “Moses my servant is dead. Therefore, the time has come for you to lead these people, the Israelites, across the Jordan River into the land I am giving them. I promise you what I promised Moses: ‘Wherever you set foot, you will be on land I have given you—from the Negev wilderness in the south to the Lebanon mountains in the north, from the Euphrates River in the east to the Mediterranean Sea in the west, including all the land of the Hittites.’ No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not fail you or abandon you.” Joshua 1:2-5 NLT

Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do.
Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.” Joshua 1:6-8 NLT

Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life. Proverbs 13:12 NLT
