Review this week's message.

Key Thought:

God is with you whether you are in the desert or in the promised land.

Key Quote

“The real problem is we’ve made people big and God small.” - Pastor Bil Cornelius

Start talking. Find a conversation starter for your group.
  • What are your top 3 favorite movies?
  • What’s the hottest temperature you’ve ever felt? Where were you?
  • What are three characteristics that make someone a good friend?
  • Who is your celebrity crush?

Start thinking. Ask a thoughtful question.
  • What can you tell about someone from their social media?
  • Why do you think God will sometimes lead us into a desert? How does He use this experience to teach us more about life with Him?
  • Why shouldn’t we trust people in open rebellion to God?
  • Who has the biggest influence on your behavior?

Start sharing. Choose questions that create openness.
  • Do you have a friend who influences you negatively? How about positively?
  • When people around you start mocking others, do you join in or steer the conversation in a different direction? Remember God has called you to be a leader.
  • Have you ever had a prompting that you knew came from God? Tell us about it.
  • Read Luke 6:45. Through the lens of this verse, what state is your heart in?

Start praying. Be bold, and pray with power.

Dear Jesus, thank you for your faithfulness. Even when we are in a desert or no opportunities seem to be coming our way, you are with us and for that we’re ever grateful. In your name we pray, Amen.

Start doing. Commit to a step and live it out this week.
  • What we consume eventually comes out, which is why what we see and listen to is so important. Take a serious look at your entertainment choices & discuss with the group. Do they honor God? If you feel a prompting to make some changes, choose to do that starting today.
  • We often have short-term memory when it comes to the faithfulness of God. Make a list of ways God has been faithful and refer to that list daily for reminders of His love.
  • “Show us your friends. We’ll show you your future.” It may be time to end the toxic relationships in your life right now. Tell the group about any relationships you have that you’re unsure of, then run these relationships through the filter of this message to decide how to proceed.
