Review this week's message.

Key Thought:

You are an influencer, so influence others for Jesus!

Key Quote

“You have no idea how much one conversation, one word of encouragement, one expression of love might change someone’s life.” - Pastor Craig Groeschel

Start talking. Find a conversation starter for your group.
  • Name a good book you’re reading right now or have read recently.
  • Who was your biggest childhood influence?
  • Name an influencer you follow on social media.
  • What is a major purchase you have made because of someone’s recommendation?

Start thinking. Ask a thoughtful question.
  • In John 4:28-30, what does the Samaritan woman’s response to Jesus teach us about influencing?
  • What is tragic about the modern view of what it means to be an influencer?
  • What is one way we can be influencers to those we work with? In our community?
  • Jesus was the greatest influencer in history. To be more Christ-like is to become more like him, an influencer. What are you doing to grow your Christ-like influence?

Start sharing. Choose questions that create openness.
  • Tell the group about a time that someone made a small, yet extremely meaningful gesture to you? How did it impact you?
  • When is a time that you influenced someone without even realizing it?
  • Who is the most influential person in your life? Are they using their influence positively or negatively?
  • Who was the first person you brought to Church Unlimited? Who brought you?

Start praying. Be bold, and pray with power.

Dear Jesus, thank you for setting the perfect example of how to lovingly influence others. Help us to do the same so others can know you. In your name we pray, Amen.

Start doing. Commit to a step and live it out this week.
  • Whether we realize it or not, we all have influence. This influence can be good or it can be bad. Take some time to write out a list of ten unique ways you can influence others for Jesus this week. Then, begin going down the list and act on each one. Share with your LifeGroup next week some cool stories that result from your obedience!
  • At the Movies is one of the easiest times of the year to invite someone to church. Write down the name of someone that God has laid on your heart to invite to church next week, and invite them to church with you next weekend.
  • As a group, think up ways you can team up to invite people to At The Movies, then use your collective influence to bring people to church.

Scriptures

“You are the salt of the earth… “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:13-16

The woman was surprised, for Jews refuse to have anything to do with Samaritans. She said to Jesus, “You are a Jew, and I am a Samaritan woman. Why are you asking me for a drink?” Jesus replied, “If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.” John 4:9-10

Jesus replied, “Anyone who drinks this water will soon become thirsty again. But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. John 4:13-14

“Go and get your husband,” Jesus told her. “I don’t have a husband,” the woman replied. Jesus said, “You’re right! You don’t have a husband—for you have had five husbands, and you aren’t even married to the man you’re living with now. You certainly spoke the truth!” “Sir,” the woman said, “you must be a prophet. John 4:16-19

The woman left her water jar beside the well and ran back to the village, telling everyone, “Come and see a man who told me everything I ever did! Could he possibly be the Messiah?” So the people came streaming from the village to see him. John 4:28-30

Many Samaritans from the village believed in Jesus because the woman had said, “He told me everything I ever did!” When they came out to see him, they begged him to stay in their village. So he stayed for two days, long enough for many more to hear his message and believe. John 4:39-41
