Review this week's message.

Key Thought:

We are all broken and human and needs God’s presence.

Key Quote

“God is not a resource to be used. He IS the resource!” – Pastor Bil Cornelius

“Don’t tie your faith to things. Tie your faith in God.” – Pastor Bil Cornelius

Start talking. Find a conversation starter for your group.
  • What do you enjoy doing to relax?
  • You just won a weeklong cruise: Where are you going and why?
  • If you could name the movie made about your life, what would you name it?
  • If you could have any exotic animal as a pet, what would you choose?

Start thinking. Ask a thoughtful question.
  • How can you abide in God during stressful and overwhelming times?
  • What is the problem with striving for perfection?
  • What is the benefit of leaning on God and our church community?
  • Why do we have strength in our weakness?

Start sharing. Choose questions that create openness.
  • When was a time you crumbled under pressure? How did God lift you up?
  • In what areas do you feel overwhelmed today?
  • Where do you need God the most in your life?
  • How are you letting God fill you with His presence?

Start praying. Be bold, and pray with power.

Dear Jesus, we are grateful that we can turn to you when we are tired and overwhelmed. Thank you for loving us just as we are, broken, tired, and in desperate need of You. Where you are we have strength, and we invite you into our lives. In your name we pray, Amen.

Start doing. Commit to a step and live it out this week.
  • Pray for guidance on how God wants you to pour into His house.
  • Where are you holding onto something too tightly such as fear, worry, stress, etc., and let God take those burdens off your shoulders.
  • How are you going to live in obedience to God’s word this week?
  • Who are you inviting with you to church to help win 1 million souls for Christ?

Scriptures

“How we thank God for you! Because of you we have great joy as we enter God’s presence.” 1 Thessalonians 3:9 NLT

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:28-30 MSG

“Be still and know that I am God!” Psalm 46:10 NLT

“’The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life. But some of you do not believe me.’ (For Jesus knew from the beginning which ones didn’t believe, and he knew who would betray him.) Then he said, ‘That is why I said that people can’t come to me unless the Father gives them to me.’ At this point many of his disciples turned away and deserted him. Then Jesus turned to the Twelve and asked, ‘Are you also going to leave?’ Simon Peter replied, ‘Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words that give eternal life. We believe, and we know you are the Holy One of God.’” John 6:63-68 NLT

“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned. But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.” John 15:5-8 NLT

“I also tell you this: If two of you agree here on earth concerning anything you ask, my Father in heaven will do it for you. For where two or three gathers together as my followers, I am there among them.” Matthew 18:19-20 NLT
