Key Quote

“Givers recognize that all they have comes from God.” – Pastor Bil Cornelius

“Giving isn’t about you.” – Pastor Bil Cornelius

Start talking. Find a conversation starter for your group.
  • What is your favorite vacation you’ve ever taken?
  • What’s the best gift you have ever been given?
  • What is your favorite childhood memory?
  • What is the most selfless act you’ve seen someone do for another person?

Start thinking. Ask a thoughtful question.
  • What happens to both the giver and receiver when someone gives?
  • Why is giving considered to be worship?
  • Why is giving easier when we realize that all we have is from God?
  • What sets apart Christian generosity?

Start sharing. Choose questions that create openness.
  • What is a dream that God’s laid on your heart that requires sacrifice?
  • What is an area of your life where you can be more generous?
  • How does God define success? How does that change how we strive for success?
  • What does it look like for you to live your life as a living sacrifice for God?

Start praying. Be bold, and pray with power.

Dear Jesus, thank you for blessing us so that we can bless others. Stir in us a generous heart to make a difference in this world for you. In your name we pray, Amen.

Start doing. Commit to a step and live it out this week.
  • Choose to give this weekend to the Because of You offering. Because of YOU, lives are going to be changed!
  • Each day, do something generous for someone else!
  • Pray and ask God for a God-purposed vision.
  • Find a way to tithe a part of your week in serving others!

With all my resources I have provided for the temple of my God – gold, silver, bronze, iron, wood, onyx, stones of various colors, and all kinds of fine stone and marble—all of these in large quantities. Besides, in my devotion to the temple of my God I now give my personal treasures, over and above everything I have provided for this holy temple: three thousand talents of gold…and seven thousand talents of refined silver, for the overlaying of the walls of the buildings…for all the work to be done by the craftsmen. 1 Chronicles 29:2-5a NLT

“But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand…Our days on earth are like a shadow, without hope. 16 LORD our God, all this abundance that we have provided for building you a temple for your Holy Name comes from your hand, and all of it belongs to you. 17 I know, my God, that you test the heart and are pleased with integrity. All these things I have given willingly and with honest intent. And now I have seen with joy how willingly your people who are here have given to you. 1 Chronicles 29:14-17 NIV

Then David said to the whole assembly, “Praise the LORD your God.” So, they all praised the LORD, the God of their fathers; they bowed down, prostrating themselves before the LORD and the king. 1 Chronicles 29:20

“Now when David had served God’s purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep; he was buried with his ancestors. Acts 13:36 NIV
