Start talking. Find a conversation starter for your group.
  • What is one fun fact that the group doesn't know about you?
  • What is your favorite thing to do by yourself?
  • What is something you consider yourself to be very good at?


Start thinking. Ask a thoughtful question.
  • We all have things that are not visible broadly, but impact us deeply. Why is it important to know that ALL people have hidden wounds that they are trying to cope with?
  • Aretha was too afraid to open up to her grandma about the abuse she was facing when asked. How can talking with a trusted loved one help you heal from past hurt or trauma even when it is uncomfortable? 


Start sharing. Choose questions that create openness.
  • When you don't feel that you can go to anyone, you can always go to God. In your own life, has your hurt brought you closer to God or created distance? 
  • How can we turn towards God in times of stress and hurt instead of turning away from Him?


Start praying. Be bold, and pray with power.

Jesus, thank you for using my past hurt and pain for Your good purpose. I know I am worthy through you and am loved beyond comprehension. Help me to feel that today! Amen.



Start doing. Commit to a step and live it out this week.
  • Do you carry a deep hurt from your past that you can't seem to heal on your own? Maybe this week your next step is finding a Licensed Professional Christian Counselor that can walk with you through it. 
  • Consider talking with a trusted friend or loved one that can support you as well.
