Key Thought: We need to look past the outside and see who God created on the inside
Start talking. Find a conversation starter for your group.
· How would you describe “ordinary”?
· Do you have other favorite movies like Wonder that have a similar message?
· What do you like about films like this?
Start thinking. Ask a thoughtful question.
· Has God ever used something ordinary about you or someone you’re close with to show His glory?
· Do you believe God made you to stand out? If so, how? If no, why not?
· Why did Augie’s life get better when he connected with Jack?
Start sharing. Choose questions that create openness.
· We can all put on our mask from time to time, when we do this it prevents us from connecting with others. As a child, what did your mask cover? If you feel comfortable sharing, what is it covering now?
· Has there been a time when your need to fit in took over and you hid who you really are in order to be popular?
· Describe a time when you overlooked a friend’s perceived faults to see who they really are
Start praying. Be bold, and pray with power.
Father God, thank you so much for reminding us that no matter how much ugliness we see with our human eyes, that you always see the beauty you created within us. Please help us to always remember you made us, flaws and all, and you never make mistakes. Thank you Father. We love you. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Start doing. Commit to a step and live it out this week.
· Spend the week intentionally speaking uplifting words of encouragement into the lives of everyone you encounter (at work, the store, restaurants, everywhere you go) then when the group comes together next week, share those stories of how your words affected those you encountered
· Is there an Augie in your life? If so, share what you know about him/her with the group, then commit to praying for that person so that everyone would see their God given beauty
